ECC Trips

From time to time during the year, members of the European Coaster Club are invited to participate in trips to ride roller coasters and other thrill rides all over England and the rest of Europe.

A trip will normally spend one or more days at a park and include food and at least one ERS (Exclusive Ride Session, where a ride is given over for a period, usually an hour, for the exclusive use of ECC trip-goers). Sometimes, some "extras" can also be arranged, such as a "behind the scenes" tour. The detailed trip invitations (issued a few weeks before the trip) explain what each trip includes.

On this page you will find reports written by Club members about trips they have enjoyed and information about forthcoming Club events. If you like what you read why not join the European Coaster Club now and you'll be invited along to the next Club trip!

As usual, all ECC members will receive detailed printed invitations to all Club events by post, but if you have any questions about Club trips or suggestions for future events, please email the trips team

Of course, all the trip photos are available in the Photo Gallery

Future Trips

If you're interested in what trips we are planning for the future, please see our Future Trips Schedule where we list all our planned trips, no matter what their status.

North America Adventure 3

5 June - 20 June 2010 (inclusive)

We’re off to the United States in June again, but this time we're also adding Canada to the agenda. After our successful tours in 2006 and 2008, we’ve decided to go back to America and visit some more of its excellent parks. Next year’s trip sees us doing more of an eastern route, starting in Charlotte, North Carolina and ending up in Toronto, Ontario. The trip will be two weeks long, which means you will only have to take 10 working days for your holiday. We hope this will make it easier for you to get the time off from your employer.

The Welsh Weekender 2010

Friday 6th August - Sunday 8th August

Those eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that the trip has had a name change this year. After 11 successful Oakwood Overnighters we have added something special for 2010 hence the name change to 'The Welsh Weekender'.

For those new to the Club and the event, the trip used to be called the "Oakwood Overnighter" because those who are willing to can camp in Oakwood Theme Park. We create a full camp site (with toilets, water, lights and a large screen video) on a field within the park. This means that you don’t have to seek out accommodation after a potentially long drive down. This year’s trip is a little different as we will be opening the campsite after 6pm on the Thursday evening to enable people to enjoy a full day at Oakwood on the Friday.

New for 2010: Just under 5 miles away from Oakwood lies Folly Farm Adventure Park, home of Europe’s largest undercover vintage funfair. The trips team have organised a two hour exclusive park session at Folly Farm on their fantastic historic preserved fairground rides after the park has closed to the public on the Friday.

Troy and the Dragon

Wednesday 22 September - Sunday 26 September

As you can imagine, when a park as stunning as Efteling employs Great Coasters International Inc. to build a wooden racing coaster, it would only be a matter of time before we headed on over to try Joris en de Draak.

On top of this, it would of course be rude not to drop in on its amazing sister ride, Troy at Toverland. And of course, there’ll be a lot more, as we’ll also take in some of the smaller parks, Duinrell and Billy Bird in The Netherlands and visits to the annual fair in Hasselt, Plopsaland and Bobbejaanland in Belgium.

If you wish to attend then please contact us as soon as possible and let us know how many want to go, along with their names. You can email these details, or post them, using the addresses in the invite. There is a deadline of August 6th, and at this point we will know whether enough people want to go to make the trip possible. After the 6th we will contact everyone with payment instructions, with payment expected two weeks later.
